Have you ever wanted to travel back in time?

Insider's Old Madrid Tour

City walls, town squares, professional gossips and thieves, epic inventions, sinners, saints and the soul of the city all await you on our Madrid tour!

Walk through Madrid’s oldest barrio, the Austrias neighborhood, to get a sense of what life was like in old Madrid:  Who were the people that lived here and how was their lifestyle compared to ours today? As you descend into the atmospheric, medieval streets you’ll leave the beaten path to be transported through time.

Our Madrid tour starts in the year 711 when Madrid was under the Iberian Caliphate’s reign. We will journey through medieval streets and learn how Madrid became the capital of Spain in 1561. We’ll discuss the dark days of the Inquisition and finish in 1725, when the oldest restaurant in the world first opened its doors: Restaurante Sobrino de Botín.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT US

Satisfied Client

Five stars!

“We did both the Old Madrid Walking Tour and the Botín Experience, back-to-back, and we couldn’t have been more pleased. Heather was the PERFECT guide for our family as she took us through the historic parts of Madrid, she was knowledgeable, thoughtful and fun! We then joined Erin for the small group tour of Botín, followed by a wonderful dinner with excellent service and food. From start to finish, Insider’s Madrid was a professional and reputable resource! Thank you!!”

If you are interested in Old Madrid, you must have dinner at Restaurante Sobrino de Botín. Founded in 1725, it is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the oldest restaurant in the world, with walls that can talk. Our Botin Experience is not to be missed.
