Segovia Day Trip
Segovia is home to one of the great examples of ancient Romanesque engineering and legacies of the fallen Roman empire: its 28.5 metre high aqueduct. It was built in the first century AD without using any mortar to bind the stones together. The conduit continued to supply water to the city of Segovia into the 20th century.
Known also for its Romanesque churches and the impressive Alcázar castle, Segovia makes another magical day trip from Madrid. In fact, as the city is only an hour away from Madrid, many Madrileños visit Segovia on Sundays for a long lunch with their families.
The city was made a world heritage site by UNESCO in 1985 and manages to combine its historic sites with its day to day hustle and bustle as a charming living and working city.
