Segovia Day Trip
Segovia is home to one of the great examples of Roman engineering: its 28.5 metre high aqueduct. It was built in the first century AD without using any mortar to bind the stones together. It continued to supply water to the city of Segovia into the 2oth century. It is such an engineering marvel that legend says it was built by the devil.
Known also for its Romanesque churches, and the impressive Alcazár castle said to have inspired Walt Disney, Segovia makes another magical day trip from Madrid. In fact, many Madrileños visit Segovia on Sundays for a long lunch with their families.
The city was made a world heritage site by UNESCO in 1985 and manages to combine its historic sites with its day to day hustle and bustle as a charming living and working city.
